It is our hope that through our distribution of the sustainable lanterns that we can support our shared global ethos.

We want to help make the world a better place for everyone.

There are over 1.6 billion people who have no access to electricity and clean sustainable lighting and energy, something most of us take for granted.

For those of us lucky enough to be in the developed countries, the pollution we have created through the use of our limited natural resources is affecting our health and causing climate changes that the world is feeling on a daily basis.

Through the sale of our sustainable solar-powered lanterns and lighting solutions as well as Solight Design’s Global Give Light Program, we hope to help lessen our negative impact on the earth and promote a carbon-neutral footprint.

The only of its kind, the flat-pack lanterns require no mouth-inflation, which prevents transmission of serious diseases like cholera, zika, or ebola spreading in regions where sanitation is an issue. Of course, it also prevents and protects your family from the common nasties that goes around too, especially on your travels.

10 Million Rays of Light | TedxBushwick

CEO Alice Min Soo Chun, recounts the difficulties in raising a child with severe asthma and how it inspired her to develop a sustainable, packable, self inflatable, and waterproof solar lantern to reduce pollution with 10 million rays of light throughout the globe.

Inspired Design

The word origami comes from Japanese words "ori" meaning fold and "kami" meaning paper

Arts & Architecture

As a little girl growing up in Korea, inventor and CEO Alice Chun spent many days learning how a simple fold can be structure. Origami forms were taught to her by her mother, who also taught her how to sew her own clothes. Inspired by fabric and the trend in material technology for smarter, lighter and faster materials, she started to sew solar panels to fabric as early experiments for harnessing solar energy. While teaching as a professor in architecture and material technology at Columbia University, she created an early prototype that was inflatable with a mouth nozzle, but rejected that design because she didn't want the risk of diseases like cholera, Zika, or Ebola spreading in regions where sanitation was an issue. The design inspired by the origami balloon eliminated the need for a mouth nozzle and simplified the flat pack and self inflation for ease of use.

World's Only Self-Inflating Solar Light

The origami folding design allows for the flat-pack and easy pop open feature which naturally intakes air with a simple pull of the built-in handles. It can transform a flat polygon into a cube or pyramid of light in seconds.

Lightest Solar Lantern on the Market

The SolarPuff is less than 75g making it the lightest solar lantern on the market. Great for kids, the great outdoors, travelling or just lounging around at home or in the garden.

High-Tech Fabric Engineered for Extreme Weather

The special material used for our lanterns are designed with UV protection and is recyclable. The weave in the SolarPuff fabric creates an amazing spectrum of light patterns. Our products are strong enough to keep the rigid form of the cube but soft enough to fold flat.

Waterproof and Floats

All of our products have a special seal around the solar panel and circuit to make it dustproof and waterproof. Our lights are ANSI FL1 Standard IPX7 certified, which means that they are waterproof, or can be temporarily submerged in 1 metre for 30 minutes.

No Batteries Required

Our lights operate without batteries. When fully solar charged, each lantern provides up to 12 hours of illumination. We recommend at least 1-hour charge for 1-hour use.
